Maldives, A group of islands rising from the deep blue of the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean, 500km (300 miles) southwest of the southern angle of India, is a very good-looking country. It is prominent for its exceptional underwater beauty with swaying palm trees and cleans white sunny beaches surrounded by crystalline lagoons with different depths of varying shades of blue; turquoise, dazzling submerged coral gardens; a wonderful natural arrangement for the ideal tropical vacation.

Male is the capital of Maldives. There are many attractive places for the traveler. You may visit in Male:

• Grand Friday Mosque: The biggest mosque in Maldives, was constructed by the Sultan Ibrahim Iskandhar in 1656.
• Mulee Aage Palace with its beautiful white carvings is an eye catching sight which located in front of the Friday mosque was built in the year 1906.
• National Museum: located in the Sultan Park, is also attraction for the visitor. It has an exclusive collection of fabulous objects of the past that depict the history and rich cultural heritage of the country.
• Fish Market of Male is the center of commercial activities in the country. The market is very overcrowded and always busy to unload the dried fish, fresh fruits and vegetables collected from the various atolls. The market is very hygienic, clean, and it is washed every day.

Though Maldives is eminent for its nice beaches but in Male there is a not good beach. Recently an artificial beach has been constructed which provides an opportunity to visitors to enjoy evening walk and a good swim during summers.

You may also visit in Male such as Hukuru misiikis – the oldest mosque of the country, English art gallery – one of the oldest buildings of Maldives.

There are so many beaches in Maldives waiting for you as example Banyan Tree Island, Nika, Cocoa Island and Nalaguraidhoo in the South Ari Atoll have striking beaches. Most of the beaches of the country are well decorated. There are many water sports such as wind surfing, parasailing, diving and snorkeling along with carnivals and parades organized for the vacationer.

For accommodation Maldives offers various opportunities for you. There are numerous 5 star, 4 star, and 3 star hotels and resorts. Most of them provide you air-conditioned rooms with mini bar, desalination plants to make provision for clean water, sports and other recreation activities etc. Some guest hotels are waiting for the fixed income people. You may stay in some resorts without roofs to give a feel of the traditional Maldivian gifili.

You may go in Maldives by air or by waterways. The only international airport of the country, Male’ international airport is well connected with the rest of the capital city of the world. A good number of charter airlines operating in Male from Russia, Italy, Seychelles, Austria, Germany, U.A.E, Sri Lanka, Spain, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Singapore, Qatar, France, U.K., Switzerland, Belgium and  many other major part of the world. You can visit Maldives through sea as well. Some private ships and yacht offer services to Maldives. Taxi boats are also available.

For local transport there are various opportunities for you. To visit remote area you can make your excursion by helicopters and sea-planes. You may select for your journey ‘Dhoni’ – a water vessel powered by a diesel, which is most popular transport is here. For longer trip Vedis – large size boats are also available here. You may hire Speedboats, taxis, motorcycles to discover the scenic prettiness of Maldives.

Nudism, topless, harpooning fish and destroying corals are forbidden on the Maldives. Pork meet, alcohol, pornographic material, weapons, narcotics, and objects of a religious character are illegal here and offenders will be fined for it.

Maldives has myriad Robinson Crusoe islands but the sun kissed beaches surrounded by lush palm trees will give you such a pleasure that make you feel as if you are in the heaven. To say about Maldives, Ibn Batuta remarked, ‘one of the wonders of the world’. So, come here with your soul mate it may get you closer to your better half of life.
